Pretty busy weekend! Or, at least it seemed like it was…

Friday brought another awesome show from “The Shins” to town and we partook happily! It was good to hear them play again and was even better to actually see them play. When we saw them last, it was in Winston-Salem and while the venue was great, there were so many folks there that we could barely see the stage or the band. The seated arrangement at the Raleigh Memorial was great and we got a excellent view of them (though the photo from my phone would lead you to believe otherwise. Sorry about that.
). Special props go out to their sound guy for filling the colossal space with the great sound that only The Shins can give. It couldn’t have been easy! Also, it looked like he was using a Mac to get the place rockin’! Definitely cool!
Saturday brought a small gathering of my horror movie loving friends together to take in the opening weekend of “30 Days of Night”…. We’d all been looking forward to this one for a while and I was happy to see that in most aspects, it delivered. I’ll have a review for this one up in the early part of this coming week. A great flick all told by a pretty amazing new director. I’m really excited to see what he does next!
Oh, and just in case you missed it, I posted two other reviews just last week. One for Cronenberg’s “Eastern Promises” and another for the micro budget horror favorite “The Signal”. There are many ways to get to these reviews, but you should be able to find them by clicking on my ugly mug off to the left, or, by clicking here and here.
Mel just finished another pair of socks this weekend and they are elegant as always! Head over to purlingplans.com to get the skinny on those. She also recently participated in the “Blog Action Day” that was a specific day for Bloggers around the world to voice their opinion on the state of the environment and what, if anything, they are trying to do to help heal the earth. Mel’s writing style is perfect for blogging (among other things) and I found this particular post to be especially good. You can read it here.
So when you get right down to it, this was weekend was pretty much perfect! The weather was outstanding, we heard live music, we hung out with friends, saw a great movie and just enjoyed life in general!
Hope you all enjoyed your own special version of the same thing!
