Chocolate and quarter rounds…

Well folks, it took almost an entire year but, we finally finished it.
Yeah, you got that right… the floors downstairs are complete and the painting is 98% percent done! We just need to put an additional coat on the base boards and it’s 100% complete!
We started the project a LONG time ago and it was documented pretty thoroughly in our first site. It was what a lot of folks would refer to as “learning experience”. We took a week off from work and threw ourselves into replacing the floors of pretty much our entire home. We didn’t get much sleep, rest or recreation and we didn’t complete nearly what we expected to complete.
Not even close.
And when we returned back to the office the next week we were MUCH worse off than when we left 
. But we didn’t give up! In all honesty, we couldn’t. To admit defeat would be to leave our house, literally in shambles. So we took meager stabs at it and before we knew it, weeks went by, then months, then the holidays were upon us. We had family staying with us.
Thus…
We had the perfect excuse to finish this.
So, while other folks were losing their minds the last couple of weeks in the malls and traffic, Mel and I were losing out minds desperately trying to make perfect cuts into quarter round and base board pieces for our walls on the first floor. Pain staking? Yes. But we got it done and it looks great!
Slap the last two coats of chocolate-colored paint onto the bottom of the walls in the dining room and you get a much more complete Hunt home experience (whatever that means…).
We finished off by hanging up some framed pictures that we’d been meaning to hang forever ago and putting up a small amount of Christmas decorations in prep for Mel’s family showing up tonight and the next few days.
The pups are sleeping soundly, Mel’s taking a much deserved evening nap, and as I sit here with a nice tall glass of Merlot, I can’t help but think that life doesn’t get much better than this!
