So… WOW! It’s Been A While Hasn’t It?

Such is our glorious month of August! It’s been a doozy, but I’ll try to keep it simple.
First up! The garden! It’s pretty much tapped now for the summer. The leafy greens have either wilted or have become thoroughly worm eaten (yuck!). We do still have some stuff to look forward to though, one summer squash, radishes, carrots and I just recently harvested a ton of jalapeno peppers from just one little plant!! So some stuff was a huge success! While others emphatically weren’t. Like our tomatoes for instance. Last year we had more tomatoes then we could possibly keep up with. This year? Well if you don’t count the plants literally growing out of the compost bin; then zero. That’s right, our beloved hanging tomato buckets produced zero fruit this year. We’re pretty sure it’s because we got such a late start, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that it’s because we didn’t use the Miracle Grow that we used last year. Mel begs to differ (on the Miracle Grow that is…). So the plan is to harvest what little good stuff we have left and get stoked for the fall season!
Tubers here we come!!!
Next up! This weekend we had the pleasure of seeing our two good friends John and Stephanie get married! It was a wonderful night for sure and it couldn’t have happened to two nicer folks. Congrats you guys!! Be careful in Africa!
Next in line is a coed soccer team that I’ve recently signed up for. I haven’t played soccer in years, but I was hoping that the activity would help out with the anxiety issues I’ve been having for the last year or so. The simple act of trying to get back into shape for the games ahead, makes me believe that this notion was a resounding stroke of brilliance on my part. The evenings I’ve biked, I’ve slept like a baby! Now I just have to start running. My first game is this Monday which happens to be Mel’s birthday so, I gotta skip that one, but the next Monday? I’ll be hitting the pitch with gusto and hopefully not sucking massive amounts of wind. Wish me luck!
Last up! Mel and I took a digital photography class in downtown Durham, one night a week, for the last three weeks! It’s a two hour class and while originally I thought it might be more technical, we’ve been very pleased with the results. Just the right pace and we’ve learned a really good amount about what we previously were clueless about! Good stuff, and it’s got us psyched about our cameras again!
That’s about it! Things are finally settling down so I’m guessing you’ll be seeing more posts here in the coming months. Sorry for the drought! Bring on the Fall DAMMIT!!
Hope all is well for you guys!
Tad
