Leaves Turn, The 3 Day, Anna Belle Turns 4 and the Love of Dear Friends…

Hey all,
Just had a quick update for you all since October is already half done and a good amount has happened since I last checked in.
First up? Autumn! Ah sweet foliage! One of the more depressing aspects of moving south was the prospect of leaving our most beloved season behind. But you know what? Fall in the NC, while not nearly as vibrant, has had it’s fair share of color this year. It’s just starting, but it when it’s this good up front it typically lasts a good amount of time so, fingers crossed.
We also just completed The Breast Cancer 3 Day event in DC! This was our 6th year doing it and Mel and I were glad to have the strength and heath to do all 60 again. This year’s walk brought on some of the most scenic terrain yet and ended up being quite the tourist’s dream! We made a ton of new friends and had the blessed opportunity of catching up with dear old ones as well.
We ended the event in front of the Lincoln memorial (which was somewhat surreal honestly) and completed our 360th mile to end breast cancer. Pretty amazing!
Speaking of amazing! My beautiful niece turned 4 this month! Happy birthday A.B.!! We really wish we could’ve been there! We’ll see you soon though! Promise!
We were also reminded this month of how lucky we are to have the friends we’ve made over the years, new and old. It’s funny how fast time cruises by, leaving you with memories, different views on everything, white hairs and a body that starts to become foreign to you. Mel and I are constantly evolving and this year in particular we’ve been startled and humbled by how some of our friends haven’t just “fallen off the face of the earth”. Far from it in fact.
I won’t mention names, you all know who you are. We love you dearly and are so grateful that you’ve continued to care for little ‘ole us.

Seriously…you 2 never cease to amaze me! I am so proud of both of you! Congrats on your 360th mile!! Way to go!!! I can’t believe AB is 4 already!! And beautiful!! I love the pic of the 2 of them! I hope all continues to go well with you, and maybe we could get together?
