Mel Returns to the Blogosphere, First Bull’s Game of the Year, Tomatoes are Up (sidedown) and Three Trees Fly Away… Literally!

Without getting too much into the “how” or the “why”, I just wanted to let you all know that after taking a really good break, Mel’s starting to blog again! So if you’ve been jonezing for some purlingplans logic, Mel’s back to drop some on you.
Late last month I caught my first Bulls game of the year with my father! He got comped some tickets and thought he’d take the only son he has that was terrible at baseball
. Needless to say, like every game we’ve gone to together, it was an awesome time! Lots of laughter, free food and a pretty good game! Thanks Dad!
We also got the tomato buckets up! I’m particularly fond of the hunter’s orange buckets, complements of Home Depot. We may have waited too long, but I’m hoping that since they are already producing fruit, that we were just in time hanging them. Finger crossed!
Oh! And we seem to have added a few more critters in the backyard! I’ve seen a couple of these this year and even though it looks like a baby, a friend of mine who’s snake expert say it’s full grown! So watch out you kale eating moth bastards! We’ve brought in reinforcements!
Lastly, we finally got rid of the 3 pine trees in the backyard. Since the ice storm of 2002, these trees have kind of been a nuisance. One was bent during the storm and never straightened, the needles have made our soil that much more acidic and good sized limbs fell off during any storm that had a gust of wind. We’ve never really liked them so when the chance came to get rid of them, we jumped at it.
The company that got rid of them, comes in with a crane, a guy with a chainsaw and a very large chipper. They then attach the crane to the top of the tree, said guy cuts the tree at the base, then the crane hoists it high and away to the street where they chip it! Pretty nuts really. Video below! And don’t worry! We’re planting fruit trees to replace them.
That’s it for now. The summer is definitely here! We’re just trying to enjoy it! Hope you are too.
More later,
Tad and Melinda
