Garden Beds, road trips and Tess gets a Fit,
Hey all, quick update! I finished building the veggie garden bed last weekend and I am only now just writing about it. It’s funny how time flies ain’t it? It was a really easy project to do and it only took a couple of hours to build. I’m planning on writing more about it in my section hopefully tonight. Here’s a pic of it next to our new compost heap.
We’ve got tomatoes, long neck squash, green/yellow/Serrano peppers, jalapeños, and various herbs and spices. All watered from our rain barrel and the remains will be composted to return to the earth from which they came! A complete circle! Throw a couple of chickens into the mix and we’ve got a mini farm going on in the middle of suburbia! We’ve actually thought about adding a few feathered friends but the housing ordinance definitely wont let that fly.
More reason to get out of dodge honestly.
Seriously though, this gardening revolving around sustainability has been a really surprising therapy for Mel and I. Very calming and it’s not very often that you find something like this that enhances life, feeds you, and actually pays for itself. Pretty cool if you ask us! ;)
We had a great time in Maryland this weekend, thanks to Tess for making it special as always! The last few road trips have been memorable haven’t they!? Now we get to tack on some more!
Tess has had a Ford Focus hatchback for a while now and the poor thing has been a money pit for most of it’s life. She had this extended warranty that covered a lot of the frequent trips to the shop but that warranty was about to run out so I mentioned on the way back to NC this weekend, that she should head over to the Honda dealership and check out the “Fit”. The “Fit” is a hatchback that gets pretty good gas mileage, is a certified low emissions vehicle, it flies down the road, has a ton of seat configurations, four doors, good space, and a kick ass stereo. All things that are perfect for Tess! Add to this fact that it’s a fairly cheap car to buy, much less to own, and you’ve got a perfect… umm…. “fit” for my sister.
So she went to the dealership, got a lot more than she expected for the Focus and drove home with the Fit!! I got to drive it and it’s great! Very comfortable, safe, and fun!
Congrats Tess!
All in all a great last couple of weeks. Next weekend is shaping up to be even better!
More on that later though ;)
Hope you all are well!
