The spring brought a Chickadee family into our Blue Bird house. We love it when birds build families in our bird house, last year it stayed empty :( , but not this year. In the beginning we’d watch momma fly in and out all spring. Once I knew there was a nest built it was so hard not to disturb them, but I did take a quick look one morning and saw that there were four almost full grown chicks inside! I can tell you one thing, she built one hell of a Hilton Hotel for these little guys. What a good Momma bird!! Eventually they grew and flew away and I only got a good look at the nest the weekend.

Check it out and see how damn cozy it looks! I see lots of moss, some of the kids hair, may some of Mel’s wool, and when you press you fingers into the center of the nest it’s almost spongy soft!

I wish you the best chickadee family! I’m glad you found our house cozy enough. We certainly loved watching you grow!

Next up!

If you haven’t been to Mel’s site PurlingPlans.com lately, she has some HUGE news! Since she started knitting a couple of years ago, she’s pretty much thrown herself into the hobby heart and soul. What’s come out of her hard work are some gorgeous sweaters, scarves, gloves, a computer bag, hats, tanks, shrugs; you name it and she’s done it!

Well, it looks like other folks out there share my appreciation of her prowess behind the needles, because one of her own original patterns has been selected to be published in a monthly web-based magazine. Oh, and did I mention she’s getting paid for it too! She wont be quitting her job anytime soon, and getting paid isn’t the point really. Not yet anyways ;)! I’m just so damn proud of her and her talent! I’d personally like to thank all of you who encouraged her these last few years! It’s really been shining light in her life since she discovered it.

The nitty gritty on the whole situation can be found on her page so head on over there!

Lastly, we had a really cool weekend with the veggie garden! The project went so good in fact that I decided to make an entire section of this site strictly dedicated to our DIY projects. If you look up in the upper left corner of the site you’ll see a new “DIY Adventures” link. Click on it and read about our most recent and past project episodes that we’ve completed! Hopefully they’ll amuse or inspire you!

The first episode is dedicated to this weekend when we added a section to our raised veggie bed and added a support system for hanging tomato plants!! This section of the site will definitely grow and evolve as we do more and more stuff, so check it out once and a while!

That’s about it folks! I hope you are well!

Take care,

Tad
