Pretty productive weekend all told.

Saturday morning had Mel and I clicking on all cylinders, cutting and fitting quarter rounds to our base boards in the breakfast nook. We got a lot done and I am happy to report that the breakfast nook is done!

Which is good, because we made a decision to move a little faster on completing the finishing touches on the floors we put down this spring. I tell ya, it’s been an experience to say the least! Our first “never ending” experience in DIY home maintenance, we’ve been slowly hacking away at it’s total completion. We have to finish it all by Thanksgiving, so we’ve really gotta get cracking! Needless to say, it was nice to see some hardcore progress this weekend.

That afternoon, I ran over to Hillsborough to meet up with a bunch of the guys from work to play some paint-ball. Without a doubt, it was a blast!! Special thanks go out to Lee and Jamie from the Development Group for inviting me and getting it all setup. I had a great time!

And I’ve got the welts to prove it! :)

Sunday brought the aches and pains that can only come from a gelatinous desk job like the one that I have. But that didn’t stop us from a quick jaunt over to Hemlock Bluffs for a couple miles on the trails. It was nice to be outside with Mel, it was cool to start but it quickly got muggy. We finished up and did a Borders run to relax for a few hours reading and drinking caffeine in it’s various glorious forms.

After that, we made our way over to Durham to catch the super indie horror flick that could; “The Signal”. It was premiering for the first time in NC at the Escapism Film Festival held at the Carolina Theater and I was REALLY psyched to catch it. A review should be written and up before tomorrow closes. In short; a really good film! Mel dug it completely, I only had one small qualm with it. But it was minor one :p. It should totally be seen by anyone who is making their own films, or anyone who wants to see where home digital equipment has advanced in the last few years. It was pretty amazing to see what they accomplished on such a micro budget! Great acting, great production, great gore, great horror film!!

While I did my stuff this weekend, Mel finished some knitting projects and picked up and stared some new ones. She had a very productive last couple of weeks. Be sure to check it all out over at her section of the site: purlingplans.com

Hope you all had a good weekend!

All the best,

Tad
