Well, it’s been a bit nutty but, we took this week off to start finishing the loft above our bedroom. Previously it was an unfinished attic type place. We mentioned to Mel’s Dad (Bob) a couple of months back that we were going to hire a contractor to finish the space. Well, Bob’s done a ton of carpentry in his life time and he really wanted to help us do this ourselves. So he came down this week and we busted our humps to get as much of it done as we could. Needless to say, we did a ton and we still have a bunch to do, but to have this:

Turn into this in six days:

… to me, it’s just amazing and I couldn’t thank Bob enough. We framed with hammer and nails, we did the electrical, we added an additional air duct, we sheet rocked… AND I’d like to mention that WE rocked! :D

The best part is that we’re well over halfway to creating a comfy study/library/studio area for Mel and I to be creative in. Up until now, such activities were relegated to the dining room table and living room, which hasn’t been exactly optimal. How nice will it be to have cozy nook in our own home, way up high near the tree tops?

Very nice indeed!

Rest assured, I (or Mel) will be posting a massive chapter in the “DIY Adventures” section of the site chronicling the whole thing! I just wanted to let you know what we’ve been up to this week! We’re super excited and can’t wait to tell you more!

All in due time!

All the best,

Tad
