Well, after being out of commission for roughly 3 months, due to a severely leaky fuel injection pump, the Golf is finally gracing the grand highway system of the Piedmont again!  We’re not entirely out of the woods yet.  She just had new front brake work done today and she still needs to be inspected (it’s cool it’s only 3 months overdue! ) but without a doubt she’s running like a top, which leads me to believe the pump had been dying for a while now.

Best of all, my mechanic in Raleigh was able to find a used fuel pump and I have been able to do a little tweaking on my own, drastically reducing the price of the work done by more than 50%.  No doubt, the work needed for the Golf was seriously ill-timed but, I gotta admit, it’s great having another car at our disposal again!

Welcome back Golf!  We missed ya! 

We also had the pleasure of catching “The Swell Season” this last Thursday night! 

Sorry for the crappy photo above it was taken with my phone (trust me, it’s them). As I’ve mentioned before, we really loved the movie “Once” and the two stars of the movie Glen Hansard (lead singer for another incredible group, “The Frames”) and Marketa Irglova (a wonderful artist out of the Czech Republic) have decided to take their side project (which they had formed before “Once”) on the road for the world to see!  

We were so excited to see them!  

They sold out one of the theaters in the Raleigh Memorial Hall in a week (due no doubt, to the oscar they won for their beautiful music in “Once”) and man, did they put on a wonderful night for everyone!  Very intimate and very candid, they played a killer set that just inspired many smiles from Mel and I. 

A very nice night indeed and the perfect cap to an otherwise crazy week!

The weekend has been mellow thus far and I couldn’t ask for anything more.  Seems like we’ve been out straight for a while now.
